(1) There will be a National Education Council for the purpose of giving advice and suggestions to the government of Nepal regarding the determination of education policies.
(2) The constitution of the council will be as follows:- /p>
(a) Minister of Education or Minister of State – Chairman
(b) Member, National Planning Commission (Looking after Education) – Member
(c) Chairman, University Grants Commission – Member
(d) Vice President, Technical Education and Vocational Training Council – Member
(e) Three persons nominated by the Ministry of Women, one from among the officers of the University – Member
(f) Secretary to the Ministry – Member
(g) Secretary, Ministry of Finance – Member
(h) Director General, Education Department – Member
(i) Chairman, Nepal Professors Association - Member (j) Chairman, Nepal Teachers Federation - Member (l) Two members nominated by the council including at least one woman from among the officers of parents' associations or organizations registered according to prevailing laws (d) Two members nominated by the ministry including one woman from among the chairpersons of the management committee of community schools - members
(l) Two persons nominated by the Ministry, including one woman, from among the directors of institutional schools - members
(n) One from among the representatives of teachers' professional association of institutional schools, organization - member
(h) Representative, National Disabled Federation - Member
(th) Joint Secretary of the Planning Division of the Ministry - Member - Secretary
(3) The term of office of the nominated member according to sub-section (2) shall be three years.
p>(4) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (3), if the inquiry committee constituted by the council recommends that any nominated member of the council has not fulfilled his official duties honestly, the ministry may remove him from the position of a member at any time. He will not be deprived of a reasonable opportunity to present his explanation before being removed from office.
(5) The Secretariat of the Council shall be in the Ministry.
(6) Other functions, duties and powers of the Council shall be as prescribed.
(7) The procedure related to the meeting of the Council shall be as determined by the Council itself.
